Common Roots Urban Farm’s Food Bank CSA
Help Us Grow Fresh Veggies For Those in Need
Common Roots Urban Farm uses the model of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) to help get healthy, locally grown produce to users of the Parker Street Food Bank.
As fresh produce prices continue to climb, the Food Bank CSA is our way of addressing the issue of getting weekly healthy food deliveries to those who do not have the financial capacity to pay for it. Socio-economic status is the primary social determinant of health. You can help disadvantaged people get regular access to healthy, locally-grown food by purchasing a Food Bank CSA.
With the help of our Deep Roots program participants, we grow and donate to the food bank over 1000 lbs of healthy produce annually. The Deep Roots program provides opportunities for newcomers with backgrounds in agriculture or horticulture to gain Canadian work experience, participate in community, and share and grow their skills and knowledge.
