Thank you to Laura Whitman who wrote a lovely piece about how Back to our Roots and Common Roots urban farms are addressing food insecurity, by feeding and healing our communities.

“Gardening is such a soul-feeding experience,” said Lindsay. “Having your hands in the soil, being out in the sun and the wind – it’s just good for everybody. Even for patients who can’t come outside, I hear from staff that they enjoy watching the life and activity from their windows. We’ve become so disconnected from the earth, our food supply and these very basic pieces of our health.“
What would more of that reconnection look like? There are many answers, but one thing is for sure: these two farms are an inspiring example of what might be possible.
